Gratnells at BlueBiz: Innovation and Engineering from Setúbal to the World
Gratnells, a global leader in educational storage solutions, is celebrating two years at BlueBiz – Setúbal Peninsula Business Park. Since establishing its operations, the company has combined its R&D expertise in Cambridge with high-precision manufacturing in Setúbal, offering advanced services including laser tube cutting, tube bending, injection moulding, and powder coating. These capabilities support a range of sectors, from automotive and industrial to retail, furniture, and education.
At this industrial unit, innovative products such as MyBASE, the mobile teacher’s desk, and CloudCubby, the next-generation tray system, are developed based on direct classroom feedback. Portuguese engineers work hand in hand with the Cambridge R&D team to bring these designs to life, ensuring functionality, quality, and innovation.
The company places strong emphasis on local collaboration, working closely with suppliers, schools, and training centres to deliver purposeful engineering and strengthen the local ecosystem. As Loic Jones, General Manager of Gratnells International, explains “if you can design it, we can make it.”
Murray Hudson, Managing Director of the Gratnells Group, adds, “the support from aicep Global Parques and the local community has exceeded our expectations, enabling us to expand capabilities, create jobs, and strengthen our impact in education.”
Gratnells’ presence at BlueBiz has contributed to the economic development of Setúbal, reinforcing the region’s role as a hub for innovation, engineering, and education.
