Alentejo strengthens international positioning through the IURC programme
Alentejo has recently concluded its participation in a series of working sessions under the IURC – International Urban and Regional Cooperation programme, an initiative funded by the European Commission that promotes cooperation between European and Latin American regions in areas related to sustainability and the energy transition.
The region took part in a working group focused on clean energy and port infrastructure, alongside Magallanes (Chile), Ostrobothnia (Finland) and Yucatán (Mexico).
As part of this initiative, aicep Global Parques, represented by Miguel Borralho, Director of ZILS – Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone highlighted the role of the Industrial Zone in attracting sustainable investment and supporting projects linked to the energy transition, emphasising the conditions that position Sines as one of Europe’s leading hubs for the industry and energy sectors of the future.
Alentejo’s participation enhanced the region’s international visibility and demonstrated its capacity to attract investment, foster innovation and contribute to global decarbonisation and sustainable development goals.
