Apresentação da Nova Alfândega de Sines

New Sines Customs Office Strengthens the Territory’s Competitiveness

aicep Global Parques, represented by its CEO, Isabel Caldeira Cardoso, attended the Presentation Ceremony of the New Sines Customs Office, held on 9 June at the Auditorium of the Port Authority of Sines and the Algarve.

The event was attended by the Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, who highlighted Sines’ strategic role in attracting investment and highly skilled talent, as well as by the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, Cláudia Reis Duarte, who underlined the importance of the new customs infrastructure in meeting the needs of businesses and the national economy.

Scheduled to become operational on 1 January 2027, the New Sines Customs Office represents a significant milestone for the region. The creation of an autonomous customs structure will enable more efficient management of customs operations, tailored to the scale and specific requirements of Portugal’s largest port and one of the most important industrial and logistics platforms on Europe’s Atlantic coast.

The new customs office will have its own management structure, 33 staff members and specialised units, enhancing the efficiency of customs procedures, improving operational performance and strengthening support for businesses.

For ZILS – Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone, this development represents an important boost to the territory’s competitiveness and attractiveness for new investment, contributing to streamlined procedures, greater logistics efficiency and the consolidation of Sines as one of Europe’s leading industrial and logistics hubs.
