Did you know that BlueBiz is located on the site of the former Renault factory?
Before becoming a business park, the site now occupied by BlueBiz – Setúbal Peninsula Business Park hosted one of the most important industrial projects in the Setúbal region.
In 1980, Renault began car production in Vale da Rosa as part of the so-called “Renault Project”, following several years of negotiations between the Portuguese Government and the French car manufacturer. The factory represented an important investment in the modernisation of Portuguese industry and had a significant economic impact on the region.
The plant initially produced the Renault 5 and eventually reached a production capacity of around 350 vehicles per day. Over its 18 years of operation, more than 600,000 cars were produced, contributing to direct job creation and the development of a network of suppliers and services supporting the automotive industry.
Production ended on 31 July 1998, but the history of the industrial site did not end there. The former complex was given a new purpose, while retaining its business-oriented character.
Today, BlueBiz, managed by aicep Global Parques, is located on this same site in Vale da Rosa.
From an important centre of the Portuguese automotive industry to a business park now home to companies from different sectors, the site remains a place of economic activity, transformation and new opportunities for the region.
